The national education policy environment: responses, guidelines and strategies to support inclusion

Australia’s education policy landscape is undergoing significant developments. In this session, Danny will share some reflections on key policy settings, including the recent Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability and potential implications for teaching standards and guidance for schools. Other policy settings currently being considered by education stakeholders will be unpacked, including the next National School Reform Agreement, several key reviews in early childhood and the Universities Accord, all of which include themes centred on equity and inclusion.

Danny will also provide an overview of implementation the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan and AITSL’s work to support the profession including work related to teacher and school leader induction, teaching assistants, cultural responsiveness of the workforce and development of middle leadership standards. Each provide a unique but connected lens on supporting improvements in inclusion.
