The Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL) eighth national inclusion and disability conference is proudly presented in collaboration with the Northern Territory Department of Education in Darwin, 30-31 May 2024.
We are inspired by The Alice Springs Mparntwe Education Declaration’s goal of providing “all young Australians with access to high-quality education that is inclusive and free from any form of discrimination” ensuring that they “have a sense of belonging, purpose and meaning that enable them to thrive in their learning environment.”
Our core purpose has been always to provide significant learning and networking opportunities to support educators, educational leaders, interagency providers and communities who work relentlessly with students to enhance their life chances and learning outcomes. The importance of belonging, engagement and access to an inclusive and equitable education are threads that run through these conferences to ensure a strong focus on concrete and practical issues pertaining to inclusion and disability with participants walking away with new knowledge, skills, practical insights, and connections that have a lasting impact on their role and context.
Together with experts, researchers, policy makers, leading practitioners and those accessing life with disabilities, we look forward to sharing with you insights and showcasing ways in which leaders, educators, and support specialists can make practical change work within their school and community environments so that every young person enters and leaves school with a sense of belonging, ownership and success.
