This two-part webinar series, hosted by Dr Selena Fisk, is for middle and senior leaders who are seeking to build the data- and evidence-informed culture in their school. The effective use of data in schools requires three key components: data literacy, data visualisation, and data storytelling, and through these sessions, participants will consider how they build their own skills in all three areas and the skills of others. Participants will also reflect on the ways that professional learning, teacher collaboration, peer learning, and action research can be authentically embedded in their school to promote data-informed practice.
Outcomes - Session 1 (18 October): Data storytelling in Australian schools - where are we and where to next.
By the end of the session, participants will have:
- considered the Australian context and influence of data in schools
- explored the notions of data literacy, data visualisation, and data storytelling
- reflected on effective practice in Australian schools, for both leaders and school structures
Outcomes - Session 2 (31 October): School structures and 2023 planning.
By the end of the session, participants will have:
- considered practical strategies for embedding data- and evidence-informed practice in their school
- explored options for resourcing and structuring staff skill development and practice
- reflected on what could work in their context and have identified potential future options
