ACEL TAS in collaboration with with ANZELA [Australian New Zealand Education and Law Assoc] is proud to present the upcoming Hot Topic with Katharine O'Donnell (presenting on Family Law matters) and Jason Newman (Duty of Care).
School Leaders more than ever need to be on top of education and the law
School leaders continue to report that knowledge of legal issues affecting education is a priority area of expertise needed by school leaders and their leadership teams.
There is also a community expectation that educational leaders are abreast of the laws relating to education and can confidently navigate and translate the law as it pertains to schooling.
To support school leaders, ACEL Tasmania is conducting an inaugural professional learning in collaboration with the Australia & New Zealand Education Law Association (ANZELA).

ANZELA lawyers, Katharine O’Donnell, who is the newly appointed Director of Education Regulation in Tasmania and Jason Newman who is a Principal legal adviser with Melbourne law firm, Gilchrist Connell, will share their knowledge, expertise and advice at ACEL’s upcoming professional learning.

Jason, with his extensive background in liability, litigation and personal injury will present on Duty of Care in schools and Katharine, with her diverse background in previously managing Legal services for the Department of Education Children and Young People will present on Family Law.
This professional learning is anticipated to be a quality event increasing the legal knowledge and judgement capacity of all who attend.
