Dr Lisa Mundy

Media use during the middle years: the effects on wellbeing and behaviour

Dr Lisa Mundy is a research fellow at the Centre for Adolescent Health within the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. She is a developmental psychologist with expertise in life-course epidemiology.

Lisa is the project manager of the Childhood to Adolescence Transition Study (CATS). This is a large longitudinal cohort study following over 1200 young people through the middle years with the aim of improving our understanding of health, emotional development, school engagement and performance.

Lisa also has experience in developing strategies for participant and community engagement, and translating research outcomes into service delivery improvements. Lisa’s primary research focus is on understanding the psychological, behavioural and biological underpinnings of mental disorders, with the ultimate goal of developing innovative approaches to prevention and intervention.

Dr William Garvey

Digital technology and neurodevelopmental paediatrics: the challenges and opportunities

Billy is a Paediatrician with over 15 years experience working with children in a number of settings. He is currently the Senior Fellow in the Centre for Community Child Health at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Melbourne. He is an expert reviewer for the Raising Children’s Network, contributes to the RCH Clinical Practice Guidelines and is a reviewer for several academic paediatric journals. His research interests include supporting children with additional needs, educational collaboration, improving health literacy and promoting community engagement to support vulnerable families. Billy teaches medical students and paediatric trainees as a Clinical Teaching Fellow for the University of Melbourne, and holds advocacy and research roles in government and not-for-profit organisations at a national, state and local level.
