MEGAN PARKER

Prior to my most recent leadership position as Principal at Clifton Springs PS, I have have had Principal class roles at Ceres PS, Barwon Heads PS, Lorne-Aireys Inlet P-12 College and The Grange P-12 College. I have also held school leadership roles over the last 30 years. These positions of responsibility have always reflected my passion for education.

I do have another passion, environmental education, and have voluntarily worked In Indonesia, Maldive, Eritrea and Cambodia for AusAid, UNICEF and Australian Teachers Across Borders providing community and schools with education on how to maximize their learning but also natural resources and maintain a healthy quality of life.

I have a very strong belief in equity, child centred teaching and learning philosophy that develops the whole child and fosters a child’s discovering their true potential. Apart from academic success I believe it is important to develop each child to be an active and positive citizen in a modern world. This includes developing children’s social and emotional capabilities which I have achieved previously using programs such as the School Wide Positive Behaviours Program and Restorative Practices. I also believe it is important to give children a voice, to develop their individuality and provide opportunities to undertake social action that makes the world around them a better place.

I’ve maintained a teaching role in my Principal class position, which has included teaching PE, Art or Music. I find it the best way to get to know the students and to experience what it is like to teach and learn in our school.

In my personal time I enjoy time with my family and friends. I love to keep fit and make the most of the Surfcoast environment where I live.
