Caroline Heysen is a Senior Policy and Project Officer working in the Teaching and School Leadership team at the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL). Caroline will share AITSL’s work which aims to increase clarity around obligations of the Disability Standards for Education (DSE) connected to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and the Australian Professional Standard for Principals. Caroline will also provide an update of AITSL’s new DSE resources for teachers and school leaders
Disability Standards for Education support for teachers and leaders
Following a recent review of the Disability Standards for Education (2005), AITSL will be releasing a suite of new resources to support teachers and school leaders in understanding their roles and responsibilities in implementing inclusive practices in educational settings. These resources also aim to support teachers in making reasonable adjustments to enable full participation of students with disability, consistent with obligations under the legislation.
