MATT AQUILINA

Matt Aquilina (B.Ed.) obtained his Bachelor of Education from the University of Canberra in 2013 and has spent the past 10 years working as a Middle Leader in the Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra-Goulburn.

Matt has spent the past few years researching and utilising teaching strategies for students who have experienced trauma and has focused on building strong relationships with students and advocating for their needs.

Matt’s career and teaching experience has been shaped from his unique story of coming from a low socio-economic background and dealing with trauma, change and adversity as a student himself.

Matt is an advocate for all students as he promotes the ‘healing power’ of school. He has worked as a Leading Year 6 Teacher with a focus on Leadership and behavioural strategies for the past two years, where he has been responsible for conversations around student's behavioural choices and promoting student wellbeing.
