ACEL NextGen

The purpose of the ACEL NextGen initiative is to connect with and give voice to a diverse group of early career educators from across sectors and systems in Australia. ACEL has now welcomed two cohorts of NextGen, with participants providing ongoing input during our National Conference.

Early career educators are invited to respond to an annual expression of interest process led by a selection committee. In 2024, applicants were asked to respond to the following questions:

  • Q1. What achievements are you most proud of in your current role and why?
  • Q2. How do you reimagine education now and in the future?
  • Q3. What is one thing we can do now to make a change you want to see? How would you like to contribute to this?
  • Q4. How do you flourish and thrive as a leader but still manage your health and wellbeing?

Successful applicants are offered free registration for the National Conference, including the opportunity to engage in small group conversations with key speakers and the ACEL President and CEO.

How to be part of the 2025 NextGen cohort

We are thrilled to welcome our third NextGen cohort as part of the 2025 ACEL National Conference in Sydney (29 September – 1 October). This year’s conference theme, Amplifying every voice: shaping our story, empowering all learners, reflects our commitment to elevating the perspectives of early career educators who are already shaping the future of our profession. Submit your response by 5pm AEST on Wednesday, 18 June via the online form.
