Stephen’s career spans more than 20 years in Australian Capital Territory and Victorian public education as a teacher, principal and Department executive. Stephen was appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer at the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority in September this year.

Stephen was previously Deputy Secretary, School Education Programs and Support Group (SEPS) at the Department of Education and Training. As Deputy Secretary, School Education Programs and Support (SEPS), Stephen contributed to shaping the Education State to ensure that the system provides every student with the knowledge, capabilities and attributes that will see them thrive throughout their lives.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Education, Master of Business Administration and has further study through both Harvard University, the Australia New Zealand School of Governance Executive Fellowship Program and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is current President and Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders.
