ACEL TAS Eminent Educator of the Year
This prestigious annual ACEL Award provides a unique opportunity to acknowledge the work of an outstanding Tasmanian educational leader whose achievements have shown exceptional merit and are consistent with the vision, mission, and objectives of ACEL.
Selection Criteria:
- Nominees will have shown considerable influence at a state and/or national level, which should be demonstrated in the supporting statement.
- A significant contribution to and demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning for self.
- Demonstrated a high level of commitment to achieving improved educational outcomes for broad cohorts of students.
ACEL TAS Fellowships
ACEL presents Fellowships to those who have made outstanding educational leadership contributions to ACEL and/or whose work has influenced educational practice at a state and/or national level.
Both ACEL members and non-members may be nominated for an ACEL TAS Fellowship. ACEL Members receiving fellowships are permitted to use the post nominal FACEL (TAS).
Selection Criteria
Describe the nominee in terms of:
- Leading teaching and learning
- Developing self and others
- Leading improvement, innovation, and change
- Leading the management of an organisation
- Engaging and working with the educational, wider community and/or profession
- Contribution(s) to ACEL (if applicable)
- Contribution(s) to the profession beyond the scope of their professional role.
Nominators should specifically focus on identifying and describing achievements, capabilities, and practices that clearly demonstrate excellent educational leadership by the nominee.
ACEL TAS Early Career Teacher Leadership Award
This award provides teachers who are in the early stages of their career, generally in their first five years, with recognition for their excellent contribution to education in Tasmania.
Selection Criteria
The improvement of student outcomes through:
- Exemplary teaching practice
- Working collaboratively with others around pedagogy and/or pastoral care
- Building purposeful internal and external relationships
- Willingness to step up to leadership opportunities if available to them.
ACEL TAS Teacher Leadership Award
This award provides teachers with recognition for their excellent contribution to education in Tasmania.
Selection Criteria
The improvement of student outcomes through:
- Exemplary teaching practice
- A contribution to leading the professional learning of others
- Building purposeful internal and external relationships.
ACEL TAS Excellence in Educational Leadership Award
Awards are presented each year to individual educators or teams of educators who have demonstrated excellent leadership in implementing an educational initiative, conducting research that leads to improved educational outcomes for students or influencing educational policy.
This certificate of recognition is designed to enable others to nominate staff for their exemplary work within their area of responsibility. It is aimed at a variety of leadership contexts be it early childhood, classroom, faculty, school, tertiary, system or consultancy.

- A significant contribution to the professional learning of others
- Recognition as an enthusiastic and committed driver of change
- Building purposeful internal and external relationships
ACEL TAS Public Discourse (Media) Award
This award is presented to an individual who has used print, radio, online, or television media to make a significant contribution to raising the levels of public awareness and the quality of debate on significant local or national education issue(s).
