Bio
Alison Venter is an Early Childhood teacher with 16 years teaching experience. She is an early career leader and currently holds an Assistant Principal Literacy Coach position in a K-10 school in Tasmania. Alison believes in developing strong relationships with her students, parents and staff and her physical disability is not a barrier in demonstrating her passion for quality teaching and learning.

Alison attained a Masters in Counselling in 2007, specialising in grief, loss and trauma in young children and adolescents.

In 2012 Alison graduated with a Masters in Education after conducting an action research study in her early childhood classroom. She has shared her findings at a number of literacy conferences and professional learning meetings around Australia and Tasmania.

In 2015 Alison presented her research on vocabulary development in her low SES, high poverty school at the International Literacy Association Conference in St Louis, Missouri.

In April 2017 Alison was published in the online issue of ASCD Educational Leadership Journal where she honestly shared her experiences and challenges of being an included student, teacher and colleague.
