QLD In Dialogue

QLD In Dialogue

The Australian Council for Educational Leaders’ (ACELQ ) partnership with the Science of Learning Research Centre (SLRC) at the University of Queensland brings together educators and researchers. Our common aim is to explore research and evidence and the implications of these for teaching, leading and learning. To conclude our seminar series for 2020, we are pleased to announce the final in a series of ‘In dialogue’ sessions for this year.

SEMINAR TITLE:

Supporting diverse learners remotely. What can we learn from the COVID experience?

SEMINAR ABSTRACT:

Supporting students with a variety of learning needs is a challenging aspect of teaching. When these students need to be supported in an online, virtual context, the challenges may well be magnified. A major contributor to the challenge is that there is very little research evidence or practice-based expertise to guide teachers’ work when supporting students with diverse academic, social, emotional, behavioural and physical needs. In this session, there will be an overview of what is known in the research literature about supporting students with diverse learning needs, and then some gathering of evidence and insights from educational leaders. This will be offered as a conversation starter where we will gather experiences from webinar participants.
