New programs announced for 2019!

ACEL

Elevate - ACEL Mentoring Program

Our Elevate Mentoring Program provides you with an opportunity to engage with a recognised and experienced mentor who is outside of your system or school, and who can offer invaluable guidance and support. It offers you the chance to develop professionally to achieve both personal and wider-institutional goals.

ACEL’s strategic plan highlights professional learning, dynamic networks and recognition of excellence as three of our core strategic pillars. The Elevate program aligns with these goals by helping emerging or current leaders develop via one-on-one sessions with an experienced mentor most suited to their needs.

Workshop 1:
17 October 2019
OR Workshop 2:
28 November 2019

Collective Efficacy will contribute 6 hours of New South Wales Education Standards Authority Registered PD addressing 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Professional Learning Workshop

Collective Efficacy, a one-day professional learning workshop, previously facilitated by PAI, explores how the combined effort of a team of teachers or an entire school can support student engagement and academic success.

A collective approach to student success can help schools develop a sense of collective agency and a purposeful, intended course of action to ensure every student within their school experiences success.

Students’ achievement should not be a lottery dependent on which teacher’s class they are in or the postcode they come from. As an integral part of a school team, we all have a part to play in ensuring every student enrolled will succeed – and it is up to all of us to make that happen. Read More

Participants: School leaders, curriculum and faculty leaders, teachers, and professional learning community leaders.

Workshop 1:
14 November 2019

Teacher Wellbeing will contribute 6 hours of New South Wales Education Standards Authority Registered PD addressing 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Wellbeing Workshop

Teaching is a rewarding and positive career choice. The influence a teacher has on helping to shape the future of so many young people is often profound. Yet, at times, teaching can also be extremely challenging.

More than 1 in 4 Australian teachers suffer from emotional exhaustion after starting their careers and expect to leave the profession within the first five years of teaching (Marshal 2013; Milburn 2011). One of the major reasons for higher levels of stress and burnout includes tougher emotional conditions than teachers expected, coupled with a lack of wellbeing support and preparation.

Mental health conditions arising from stress in the workplace have become an increasingly important concern for employers, and workplace claims have far-reaching impacts within schools – even beyond the bottom line.

Teacher Wellbeing covers a quality evidence-based approach to achieving a resilient mindset and problem-solving strategies for dealing with the practicalities and complexities associated with the teaching profession. ACEL brings you this one-day workshop, previously offered by PAI, where teachers can gain a shared understanding of what wellbeing really means and strategies to support them to take immediate action. Teacher Wellbeing also covers how to plan for the long term and how to achieve a positive approach to their work. Read More

Mentoring and Coaching Program

Program Structure: 2 Day Face to Face Workshop

A core skill is the ability of leaders to mentor and coach their teams and team members across a range of areas including pedagogical practice. Some have more natural ability in this area than others, but all will benefit from this practical and hands-on opportunity to build their knowledge and develop their skills as mentors and coaches.

ACEL has developed a two-day workshop, designed to be directly applicable to leaders and their needs. The facilitator, Sue Simon, brings to the delivery of the workshop an immense understanding of the middle leadership role based on a wealth of experience in a variety of contexts. Read More

School Improvement Program
Two Year Program

All schools, including high performing schools, must engage in ongoing improvement to ensure students achieve their potential. We must raise standards into the medium and long term and at the same time enhance the learning skills, the spirit of enquiry or curiosity of our students.

Successful school improvement must involve the whole school from the principal to the students and the school community. This program will provide an identified team with the knowledge and tools to embed an ongoing structure of school improvement.
ACEL, in partnership with McRel, has developed a two-year program providing school improvement teams with theoretical knowledge, tools and frameworks to implement processes to develop the pedagogical skills of teachers. Read More

Participants: School Leadership Teams (4 to 6 Staff)
