The role of the principal has changed significantly over the past 20 years. Whilst there has always been a tension between leading and managing, the demands on principals from all stakeholders has dramatically increased to a level that some believe is quite unsustainable. The effect is a reduced number of educators being attracted to the role and principal health and wellbeing becoming a heightened concern.
