Nathan lectured in Human Development at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand and was also a board member and senior trainer with the national body responsible for the dissemination of neuroscientific research to professionals. Nathan is a regular on Radio and Television shows in New Zealand, sharing his expertise on child development. In 2010 he founded a private training consultancy, X Factor Education Limited, with the goal of facilitating easy to understand professional development training reflecting the latest neuroscience discoveries and their practical implications for everyday practice.

Neuroscience and Learning: The New Age
Neuroscientific research has exploded onto the teaching scene in the last twenty years. It is estimated we learnt in the 1990’s the equivalent of what we had learnt about the brain in the previous 300 years! This rate has not slowed, but is speeding up. Nathan aims to summarise this research in an easy to understand and easy to apply to practice way. How does this effect teaching and learning? How important is the connection between teacher and learner? Nathan will explore these questions in relation to the research, and in applying this research to practice.
