ACEL ACT: Breakfast with the Minister 2023

Yvette Berry is a full-time working mum with two teenage children. Yvette believes every child deserves a great education and the life chances which flow from it. She believes that education has an incredible power to level out inequities to allow children to reach their potential no matter what their background is or what challenges are in their lives.

Teachers are the single most important factor in a child’s educational outcomes, and are expert professional, highly skilled at working with students to guide them through their learning journey. Investing in and empowering teachers is a foundation in the Future of Education strategy championed by Yvette.

For more than 15 years now Yvette has worked as a community organiser, representing workers and their families to win fairer wages and better conditions. Prior to being elected, Yvette was coordinating BIG STEPS in Early Childhood Education and Childcare which is the campaign to win recognition through professional wages for Early childhood Educators.

Yvette Berry is currently the Deputy Chief Minister, Minister for Education and Youth Affairs, Minister for Early Childhood Development, Minister for Housing and Suburban Development, Minister for Women, Minister for Sport and Recreation, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence.
