Collective leader efficacy (CLE) is a shared conviction among a school leadership team that they can improve the learning environment for all students. Unfortunately, many school leadership teams lack that conviction because they never took time to be intentional about their focus.”.

In this multiple day webinar, Peter DeWitt, E.D. provides the research, explains the drivers, and engages participants in the cycle of inquiry that will help leadership teams develop collective leader efficacy as a leadership team. This workshop is for teams (PLC, department, School-based).

During the webinars, all teams will have to commit to 3 drivers, 2 roles for their team, and 1 goal as a team that they develop during a cycle of inquiry. There will be ample time for teams to engage in learning with one another, as well as work collaboratively around protocols. At the end of each session, teams will agree to actionable steps they can engage in when they go back to school.

Participant outcomes:

  • Define collective leader efficacy (CLE)
  • Develop an understanding of how leadership teams should function
  • Define the drivers necessary to develop collective leader efficacy as a team
  • Engage in a cycle of inquiry where they can define a theory of action
  • Develop a program logic model to help them plan actionable steps

    • Develop success criteria with participants. Peter has success criteria, but also finds it beneficial to develop success criteria with the audience as well.
    • Video – Dare to Disagree (Margaret Heffernan). The reason for showing this very powerful Ted Talk is due to the fact that it focuses on the importance of not having echo chambers around the table.
    • The day begins by focusing on 3 drivers, 2 roles and 1 goal. After watching the Heffernan video, participants will be asked to define 3 beliefs they have when it comes to education, students and learning. We will reflect on those in webinars 2 and 3 and use them to define a goal.
    • Teams learn about the research behind collective leader efficacy.
    • Teams engage in discussions about roles. Participants will be asked to commit to 2 roles.

Homework: Be prepared to share evidence of collective leader efficacy in a breakout room at our next webinar.
