ACEL NSW is hosting a special first of its kind conference in Sydney for aspiring, beginning and experienced middle leaders from across Government, Independent and Catholic schools.
At the conference you will hear from renowned keynote speakers and experts in middle leadership, as well as collaborate in interactive workshops with other middle leaders across different sectors and locations.
Gavin Grift, author of the new book ‘Emerge: The 5 most common challenges faced by middle leaders and how to overcome them’ will be the guest keynote for the morning session. Participants will learn more about their ingrained dispositions, motivations, and physiological responses to help them grow their emotional intelligence when leading others. They will have potential blind spots illuminated and be encouraged to do something valuable with those as they come to view both problems and people as their greatest opportunity for growth.
In addition, you will work with Associate Professor Dr Kylie Lipscombe, from the University of Wollongong, who will use the latest research to explore tools you can utilise to effectively maximise the professional learning and development of your colleagues and teacher teams. In the final session, you will engage with other aspiring, beginning and experienced middle leaders across multiple settings to explore a range of practical evidence informed leadership strategies.
Throughout the day, there will be opportunities for book signings, and also to learn more about HALT accreditation from the HALT Association NSW and discuss strategies and experiences with colleagues. At the end of the day, you will have a toolkit of research and strategies to maximise your middle leadership practices.
