ACEL actively supports the development of leadership capabilities across Australia through its national and Branch initiated professional learning activities, international conferences, publications, online programs, and other partnership initiatives in leadership development. Council Objects

ACEL was established to encourage discourse and research that advances educational leadership and the growth of successful educational leaders at all stages of their career.  To achieve this Object, ACEL may do all such things as it considers necessary, incidental or conducive to the Objects including, without limitation:

1. Shape the practice of educational leadership;
    
2. Encourage discourse and research that advances educational leadership; and
    
3. Contribute to the growth of the educational leadership profession through;
    
4. Providing resonant, authoritative and innovative professional learning opportunities, resources and materials;
    
5. v. Participating in educational leadership policy development and dissemination;
    
6. Commissioning and conducting research and development that supports and promotes contemporary views of educational leadership at all levels;
    
7. Sharing distinctive, forward-thinking, relevant, responsive and world class services so as to inspire the profession of educational leaders;
