About the Conference Partners

The Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL) is the major professional association for educational leaders at all stages of their career from within Australia and throughout the world. With over 6,000 members, ACEL is a leader in professional development and thought leadership, and offers opportunities to participate in world class leadership programs, access monthly professional readings, and to learn with ACEL’s connected international communities, including ASCD and the Centre for Creative Leadership.

ASCD is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organisation that represents 175,000 educators from more than 135 countries and 58 affiliates. ASCD's members span the entire profession of educators and its publications and programs address all aspects of effective learning and teaching—such as professional development, educational leadership, and capacity building.

The Australian Joint Council of Professional Teaching Associations (AJCPTA) is a federation of state and territory joint councils of teacher professional associations representing over 120,000 teachers, from government and non-government schools within Australia. It provides a national voice for Australian teachers from all sectors and all levels of education.

The Australian Council for Educational Leaders—Northern Territory is a very successful branch of ACEL. ACEL-NT provides regular professional learning programs and support to educational leaders across the Territory.

A Conference Site That Never Disappoints

Darwin is a place of sunshine, beaches, and nightlife, with a tropical climate and lots of tourist attractions, including museums, parks, art galleries, and historic buildings. After a full day of meetings and networking, take a stroll through the city centre or wander along Darwin’s famous harbour. Visit the open-air markets at Nightcliff and Mindil Beach, where there are stalls of unique products form local arts and craftspeople. Try the authentic cuisine from all over Asia or a good Aussie barbecue. The markets are alive with street performances— musicians, performers, traditional Aboriginal culture, recitations of traditional Australian bush poetry, and even try whip cracking lessons. Then, the city comes alive at night with nightclubs and the casino at Mindil Beach.

Attractions Outside Darwin

Darwin provides easy access to national parks, indigenous culture, brilliant sunsets, spectacular natural wonders, and world-class fishing.
