ACEL Queensland

2010 ACEL PNG school partnership

Once again ACELQ are requesting the generous support of all schools in South East Queensland to contribute items from their school and community.

Your previous extraordinary generosity in 2006 and 2008  has been very much appreciated by ACEL Queensland Executive, and most particularly, by  the  staff and students of schools in the Lae and coastal areas of PNG.

Could you once again contribute quality and useful resources which you would consider beneficial in any school setting?

The following are examples of  items which may be considered for contribution by your school community:

  • Quality text, fiction and non-fiction books,
  • Classroom resources eg writing pads, biros, lead and coloured pencils, textas, rulers, rubbers, sharpeners, art or craft materials  - art paper, coloured cardboard
  • Teaching resources: Markers,  reams of white or coloured paper in A4 or A3 size,  plastic sleeves, folders
  • Musical Instruments: triangles, tambourines, small  keyboards, guitars
  • Sporting equipment in any quantity eg balls  - deflated and of any type, bats – any type, competition bibs, jerseys, beanbags, skipping ropes
  • Computers (working and with all accessories for operation)
  • Calculators (working )
  • Clothing – sports shoes

Prior to transporting please consider the following requirements:

  • Schools requested to securely box,  tape and label  all items for travel in ‘similar type  resource’ packs to assist QASMT distribution and PNG schools to  identify the packaged items without having to open every box ie text books for secondary; fiction books for juniors; art / craft material; sport equipment.
  • All items to be boxed and labelled with triplicate copies (for receiving school; customs; transport) and school name taped in a plastic sleeve to the outside of the box listing the type of items (see dotpoint above).
  • Schools to note and record on boxes that No Liquid, Inflammable or Dangerous Items are in the box/boxes.
  • Schools to meet the transport costs to QASMT.
  • Box/Boxes to be delivered between the dates of 13th  Sept to 16th September

See details below for arrangements.

PNG Education Resources Project

ACEL Queensland is currently interested in obtaining Educational resources (particularly Primary and lower High School) to send to needy schools in Papua New Guinea. All we require is for the materials to be dropped off to QASMT between 13-17th September. We cannot ship perishables or anything that can explode but that should be reasonably obvious! Any labelling of contents they could provide to the outside of their box would also be greatly appreciated.
