Q&A Forum: Review of Senior Assessment & Tertiary Entrance

Q&A Forum: Review of Senior Assessment & Tertiary Entrance
Are you aware that major changes to externally-moderated school-based assessment in Years 11 and 12 in Queensland have been proposed in an ACER Report to the state Government?

The proposed changes involve tertiary entrance, the Queensland Core Skills Test, external assessment, and the current school-based moderation system. There are major implications for teaching and learning in Queensland schools. The Queensland Government has released a response paper to the Review, and has invited input by the end of March.

You and your colleagues are invited to attend the forum to discuss the ACER Review of Queensland Senior Assessment and Tertiary Entrance, and the draft Government response to the recommendations: in particular the implications for students, teachers and school leaders. The format of the event will be Q&A style, allowing participants to hear perspectives from fellow educators, and engage in lively dialogue about the impact of the report on the future of teaching and learning in Queensland

The panel includes

    • Dr Gabrielle Matters, Australian Council for Educational Research
    • Corrine McMillan, Principal of Cavendish Road State High School.
    • Geoff Newton, Principal of Hillbrook Anglican College
    • Ursula Witham-Young, St Teresa’s Catholic College
    • Dr Merrilyn Goos, University of Queensland

Join Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL) members and colleagues in a process that will influence the way the Review moves into policy and practice. Your insights and feedback on the recommendations are important, and need to be heard.

About the report
