Official Academic Journal of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders

Leading and Managing (L&M) is an international, peer-reviewed academic journal published twice a year by ACEL. It publishes on education management and leadership in the widest sense: on the management of all schools, and of further and higher education institutions; and on administration and policy at all levels - institutional, local, national and international. It also focuses on effective pedagogy, classroom and school culture, school improvement and systemwide reform.

L&M aims to maintain a balance of practice and theory directed towards the complementary phases of leading and managing in educational administration. L&M is targeted at personnel working at all organisational levels and in all sectors and systems, principally, but not exclusively, in the sphere of education, where education is understood in its holistic sense.

L&M provides:

  • Advance understanding of what it means to lead and manage;
  • The experiences of organisational personnel while engaged in leadership and management and the experiences and reflections of those who find themselves being led and managed;
  • Articles that explore alternative, critical and re-conceptualised views of school leadership and management; and
  • Contributions from practitioners that showcase the relationship between theory and practice explicitly.

This journal is provided through digital format as part of the benefits available to all members of ACEL. For more information on subscribing and contributing an article, please follow the links provided;
