More than 1 in 4 Australian teachers suffer from emotional exhaustion after starting their careers and expect to leave the profession within the first five years of teaching (Marshal 2013; Milburn 2011). One of the major reasons for higher levels of stress and burnout includes tougher emotional conditions than teachers expected, coupled with a lack of wellbeing support and preparation.
Mental health conditions arising from stress in the workplace have become an increasingly important concern for employers, and workplace claims have far-reaching impacts within schools – even beyond the bottom line.
Teacher Wellbeing covers a quality evidence-based approach to achieving a resilient mindset and problem-solving strategies for dealing with the practicalities and complexities associated with the teaching profession. ACEL brings you this one-day workshop, previously offered by PAI, where teachers can gain a shared understanding of what wellbeing really means and strategies to support them to take immediate action. Teacher Wellbeing also covers how to plan for the long term and how to achieve a positive approach to their work.

Teacher Wellbeing will contribute 6 hours of New South Wales Education Standards Authority Registered PD addressing 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
Craig’s career as a teacher has spanned more than 25 years. He has held leadership roles within schools in South Australia and Queensland particularly in focus areas of behaviour management, parent engagement, student wellbeing and supporting students with disabilities.
Whilst working as a Professional Service Consultant for Principals Australia Institute, Craig supported school in the implementation of the mental health initiative KidsMatter and MindMatters. He also designed a series of professional development workshops for support teachers being their best, which he delivered nationally.
As Education Manger for The Reach Foundation, Craig continues to be a strong advocate for providing safe learning and teaching environments within schools.
