HOW STUDENTS LEARN
with John Hattie & Sam Rodgers

Tuesday, 27th October 2020 [ONLINE EVENT]

There is a science to learning and we are finding out more and more about what works best to support the learning processes that make a difference for learners. During this day you will hear about a research-based model of learning and how to apply the principles to achieve more effective learning outcomes for your learners. You will consider how learning strategies can be used to maximise impact so that learners develop the skill, the will and the thrill of learning and what strategies work best at the surface, deep and transfer phases of learning.

Practical examples, insights and strategies to reflect on and use in your own practice is at the heart of this day.

COLLABORATIVE EXPERTISE - PLC+
with Douglas Fisher

Thursday, 12th November 2020 [ONLINE EVENT]

Keeping student learning at the forefront of professional learning communities requires that we also recognise the vital role that teachers and leaders play in the equation of teaching and learning. This means that PLCs must take on two additional challenges: maximising individual expertise, while harnessing the power of collaborative expertise that can be developed with peers. It is critical that we go beyond the examination of student learning and examine teacher learning as well.

Building upon prevailing PLC methodology, the workshop is designed to consider ways of refreshing current collaborative structures and support teachers’ decision making in the context of individual and collective efficacy, expectations, equity, and the activation of own learning.

BUILDING AND DEVELOPING ASSESSMENT CAPABLE VISIBLE LEARNERS
with Douglas Fisher & John Hattie

Friday, 13th November 2020 [ONLINE EVENT]

The Visible Learning research is clear that when students know how to learn and are aware of strategies to help them learn, they are able to become their own teachers. Imagine students who describe their learning in these terms: "I know where I'm going, I have the tools I need for the journey, and I monitor my own progress." Now imagine the extraordinary difference this type of ownership makes in their progress over the course of a school year.

Join John Hattie and Doug Fisher as they share with you how to make this scenario an everyday reality in your classroom - one that will significantly increase your students' capacity to thrive as they take responsibility for their own learning. Hear them talk about how the right approach at the right time can create classroom experiences that hit the surface, deep, and transfer phases of learning.
