Bio
Catherine is passionate about mediating the space between educational bureaucracy and the needs of Indigenous students and their communities. Her Masters of Indigenous Knowledges focus was on cross cultural leadership and mediation in an educational setting. Since then her efforts have been on adopting and adapting Victoria Bernhardt’s Continuous School Improvement framework to engage and empower communities to own and drive the school improvement agenda for their children in their community.

A partnership with Education for the Future and the take up of the framework across two regions, including urban and rural schools, is creating the space for schools and communities to move forward towards collaboratively prescribing the changes needed for continuous school improvement. Catherine provides professional learning and coaching to Principals and leaders with case study schools helping refine the process. Catherine’s other research interests include cultural safety, inviting schools concept and understanding and redefining ‘success’ in Indigenous Education and in Christian Education.
