WA Branch News

Dear members,

I hope you have had a smooth start to the school year. Every year is a great opportunity to reset and refocus with the view of making the new year an even better one than the year before. I enjoy the start of a school year as it brings with it much anticipation and excitement as friends reunite and new relationships establish throughout the school community.

I am delighted to announce three save the dates for events which I’m sure will be outstanding.

15th March Andy Hargraves in Bunbury
26th March Hot Topic Event “Who are Tomorrow’s leaders?”- Professional Learning Institute.
28th May ACEL WA Awards ceremony- Telethon Institute

The WA Executive branch is also seeking members who are willing to share any research or examples of innovative programs which are being undertaken in schools. Sandy Heldsinger one of our executive members is very keen to discuss these with you with a view of having the information published nationally. Please contact Sandy at sandy@assessmentcommunity.com.au.

Finally, I would like to congratulate Miss Jonelle Lorantes the recipient of the ACEL WA ECU School of Education Prize. ACEL WA has proudly supported this award for a number of years.

Look forward to seeing you at a future event.

A highlight of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders Western Australia Branch is the annual celebration and presentation of awards. ACEL WA honours those educational leaders who in the view of their peers have made a significant contribution to the understanding and practice of educational leadership.

To assist in this process, we urge all ACEL WA members to consider nominating worthy candidates for recognition of their leadership and service to education. The award nomination process is confidential until completed, and nominations have been approved. The ACEL WA Awards committee will evaluate nominations with respect to the essential criteria.
