Bio
Jeff set up and coordinated a program for disengaged students in the northern suburbs of Hobart. His
work within the program was recognised through his achievement of a National Excellence in Teaching
Award in 2012, and by the University of Tasmania who invited him to investigate the pedagogy of his
work through undertaking a PhD. Jeff has presented his work at both state and national levels and has
been accepted to present at the European Research in Education Conference later this year. Now in the
third year of his PhD exploring the role that student agency plays in successful re-engagement, Jeff
lectures in the Masters of Teaching course and juggles his teaching and research commitments with
spending as much time as possible with his wife and four beautiful children.
