Dr. Russell J. Quaglia
Presents
Student Voice
The Key to Unlocking Schools Potential

Dr. Quaglia will address the triumphs and tribulations of student voice. He will speak candidly recognizing the positive impact student voice is having, and also address the obstacles and myths that are holding student voice back. Dr. Quaglia will share data he has collected from hundreds of thousands of students and the implications that data has regarding the role of educators and policy makers, how schools are organized, and how we assess the teaching and learning environment. Dr. Quaglia will offer suggestions and action steps to ensure student voice is listened to, learned from, and acted upon for the good of the entire school. His fundamental belief is that we can and must learn from students if we are to ensure all students are reaching their fullest academic, personal and social potential.

The full-day session will address common themes such as:
1. The design of schools and how they are structured in order to provide the best learning environment possible for student voice to flourish;
2. The importance of communication, trust and collaboration between and among students and staff that fosters the most productive teaching and learning environment; and,
3. The impact student voice has on the personal, social and academic development of students and staff.
The day will be interactive and engaging, with built in reflection time, hands on collaborative challenges, instructional and leadership strategies, and time to develop personal and organizational action steps.

Student Voice: The Key to Unlocking Schools Potential will contribute 6 hours of New South Wales Education Standards Authority Registered PD addressing 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
